City planning staff and regional partners asked the council to adopt the Pineyoning County Natural Hazard Mitigation Plan (2024) and an updated community wildfire protection plan. Presenters said the plan has FEMA approval and combines previously separate mitigation and wildfire-protection documents.
"This is a FEMA approved plan," a presenter said, adding that the version is the first in the state published as an online story map to make maps and mitigation actions more accessible. Staff said combining the mitigation and wildfire protection plans opens additional funding opportunities and that plans will be updated on the five-year schedule required for FEMA-approval.
Councilmember Davis moved to approve Resolution 25-18 and authorize the mayor to sign; Schubert seconded and the motion passed on a roll call vote. Staff thanked regional partners and internal engineers for their assistance preparing the plan.
