Council approves $103,500 Box Elder cost share for Denali Park LWCF rehabilitation

City grant writer Rob Timm told the council on April 15 that the city's share of the Denali Park rehabilitation project would be $103,500 of a total $203,500 project funded by the Land and Water Conservation Fund.
"What that would consist of is $53,500 in cash and 50,000 in labor and equipment," Timm said, describing the city's cost-share components. He said the project will add a pickleball court, mitigate recurring flooding by improving drainage at the restroom and picnic shelter, create an ADA-compliant parking lot and add landscaping.
Councilmember Knight moved approval of Resolution 25-17 committing the city's cost share; Schubert seconded and the council approved the resolution on roll call. Timm thanked parks staff and other contributors for their assistance preparing the grant application. The resolution authorizes the city to participate in the grant process and allocate the local match described in the packet.
