Board advances $26.056 million transportation appropriation to Bi-State Development Agency despite vocal protest

The motion to perfect the bill was made by the alderman from the 3rd and seconded by the alderman from the 14th. During debate, the alderwoman from the 12th delivered an extended floor protest against recurring state and local appropriations to Bi-State/Metro, saying the city has been promised service to North St. Louis that never materialized. "I will continue to vote against all bi state appropriations... because this is another one of the long term lies that was made to North Saint Louis," she said, and later cited $70 to $100,000,000 spent on a failed trolley-bus project as an example of misdirected spending. The board sustained the motion to perfect the bill on a roll call vote.
