Lake County staff outline public comment deadlines, HUD submission timeline for FY2026 CDBG and HOME

David Adachi, director of Lake County Planning and Community Development, opened the public hearing and explained that the county advertised proposed FY2026 CDBG and HOME projects and posted materials on its planning office Facebook page. He invited verbal comments at the hearing and said written comments could be mailed to the planning office at 105 Main Street, Office 401B, Painesville, Ohio 44077, or submitted by email (an email contact was read aloud during the hearing); staff said written comments will be accepted through 4:00 PM on Thursday, August 6, 2026.
A county staff member summarized the near-term process: the public comment period runs through Aug. 6, staff will consider and incorporate comments into Lake County’s FY2026 annual action plan, and the county plans to submit that plan to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) by Aug. 16, 2026; HUD review will follow and commissioners will complete legislation later in the year to approve subrecipient agreements. The hearing closed without a formal decision.
