Board approves Veeam and SmartNet renewals to maintain 911 backup and server support

County IT presented and the board approved the annual Veeam backup/recovery subscription for the PSAP 911 center and the SmartNet support/license renewal for servers and infrastructure to maintain warranties and service replacements.
Sal Prazi, information technology lead for the St. Joseph County 911 center, asked the board to approve annual subscription renewals for Veeam backup/recovery services and SmartNet licensing and support for core servers and infrastructure. Prazi said, "Veeam is our backup recovery data protection software...The renewal allows us to...use Veeam for data protection from many different data loss scenarios."
Prazi also explained the SmartNet renewal covers warranties, service replacements and security updates for servers and SAN storage, and noted locking in pricing before an upcoming price increase. The board approved both renewals by recorded vote.
