Commissioners table change order adding Darden and Jewell work to resurfacing package

Adam Bridal of the Department of Infrastructure Planning and Growth asked the board to approve contract change order number 1 with Reath Riley for the CCMG mainline paving package. Bridal said the change order would add a 0.25-mile section of Darden and curb-and-gutter and paving on Jewell Avenue to address drainage and maintenance concerns. "We were able to add 0.25 mile section of Darden...and then we added curb and gutter on Jewell Avenue...to help mitigate some of the drainage issues," Bridal said.
A commissioner asked for clarification about the roughly $69,575 additional cost and whether the Community Crossings grant would cover it; Bridal said additions made after the original package are not included in the 50/50 grant split and that the county's street budget would fund the local share. One commissioner moved to table the item for further review and the motion carried on a recorded vote (two ayes, one no).
