Melanie Gambows, a registered nurse, was sworn in as a witness called by the department and gave an account of her nursing education, licensure and employment history.
Under questioning, Gambows said she attended Norwalk Community College with additional summer classes at Housatonic and received her registered nurse license in 1999. She described her first position as an RN at Milford Hospital, saying she worked there "about 21 years," and that she left after administrative changes and a buyout: "Just a bunch of administrative changes. They got bought out, and I was in management then. And just a lot of the job changed, a lot of politics, decided to move on." Gambows said she later worked for an agency administering COVID vaccinations for about six to 10 months in 2021 and began working at HyperFit (an "age management" nursing business) in late 2021. She testified she left HyperFit in January 2026 and is not currently employed as a nurse.
The hearing record contains slight inconsistencies in some dates the witness gave (she referred to both 2020 and 2021 when describing the end of her hospital employment); the transcript preserves both statements. The panel took testimony about Gambows's work and relationships as background before discussing documentary evidence and moving to executive session for anticipated testimony involving protected medical information.
