District budgets extra $600,000 for child nutrition after full CEP rollout

"This year, we've seen an increase also there in our personal budgets... we are seeing an increase this year of just over 600,000 to our child nutrition fund," Cameron said.
Cameron said the district's move to full CEP expands access to meals and increases district-funded costs that federal reimbursements do not cover; the draft budget includes the transfer from Fund 11 to Fund 61 to cover these local shares. Board members asked how the program is monitored and how cafeteria/donation funds such as ROTC shoe-and-coat donations are handled; staff confirmed ROTC donations are separate, donated funds and not taken from the regular budget.
