PGCPS work group sets fall timeline for electric school bus recommendations

The Prince George's County Public Schools electric school bus work group met June 17 and agreed to draft recommended next steps this summer, returning to the group in August for review before public comment and board consideration in the fall.
Chair Pamela Boozer Struthers said the committee will develop a draft over the summer and return on Aug. 26 to finalize edits. "We will come back in August with that draft for our committee meeting," Struthers said. The group plans a public town hall hosted by student leader Cynthia and committee members, and committee chairs will brief board committees in September before a full board agenda slot on Oct. 22.
The schedule is meant to allow staff and consultants to validate local assumptions before producing final recommendations. Struthers emphasized that the effort looks beyond transportation to impacts on student health, staffing and school operations. The work group did not take any formal votes at the June 17 meeting; members directed staff and consultants to continue data collection and modelling for the August session.
