Public Works reports on park upkeep; splash pad needs parts and budget review

Public Works Director Martinson briefed the board on a range of park maintenance activities: power-washing and painting the gazebo at North Park, routine upkeep at the Catholic Church park and baseball fields maintained with help from Little League volunteers, and increased rentals and use at Ripple Creek.
On the splash pad, Martinson said staff removed a broken feature to ensure safety. "It's still functional ... I think there's 5 or 6,000 left in the, the splash pad budget," he said, and added that a replacement part could cost "within a couple thousand dollars"; he said staff will attempt to order the part if it fits the current budget, otherwise it will be included in future budgeting. He also warned that the bathhouse lacks hot water and that full renovation would be costly.
