The open forum portion of Tuesday's council meeting featured heated remarks related to the pending special election for council seat C3.
Fraser Young (Speaker 4) began by thanking staff for open‑house outreach and said his campaign is funded by himself and residents, not by former mayors, council members or business owners. "I'm not taking any money from former mayors, anyone on the council or their families, anyone on the Chamber of Commerce," he said. He alleged that a person he named (Katie) contacted him and pressured him to withdraw in favor of another candidate and asked that she address the allegation during council comments.
A later caller (Speaker 9) read a lengthy post critical of Young's campaign style and alleged that Young had deleted early campaign posts and blocked critics on social media. The commenter said Young's attacks created division and urged voters to "see through" his tactics. The allegations were aired publicly at the open forum but no formal response or inquiry was recorded during the meeting.
