City Attorney Rachelle Norberg told the council that too much time had elapsed since prior abatement letters issued in 2024 and 2025 and recommended that Code Enforcement reinitiate abatement actions; she said she would follow up with court orders from a judge as needed. The council agreed that Code Enforcement and the city attorney should proceed.
Later in the meeting the council entered executive session under SDML 1-25-2(3) to consult with legal counsel and SDML 1-25-2(1) for personnel discussion. The council exited executive session at 5:55 pm and reported no action taken. The minutes record the direction to pursue abatement steps but no formal outcome from executive session.
