The council approved a one‑year contract with the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office for law enforcement services in the amount of $2,567,700 for fiscal year 2026–27.
Staff said the contract funds police protection, traffic enforcement, community policing and school crossing guards and represents a 5.88% increase from the prior year. "I think it's important to note... that this amount of money comes from the taxes that you pay to Oldsmar," the city representative clarified, adding it does not come from county tax revenues.
Several council members spoke in support of continuing the contract and praised the sheriff's response and community policing efforts. The council moved and approved the contract by voice vote.
