Laura Petersen sworn in as Gregory mayor; council approves several appointments

Laura Petersen was sworn in as mayor at 5:15 pm after the outgoing mayor adjourned the previous council. The new council moved quickly to formalize leadership and appointments: Alex Hamilton was elected council president and Ashley Spinsby was elected vice-president.
The council appointed Renee Thomas to Ward II (1-year term) by a motion from Kristi Drey that carried with recorded aye votes from Stacey Boes, Kristi Drey, Ashley Spinsby, and Alex Hamilton. Two Ward III appointments were also handled: Stacey Boes was appointed by council action, and Jessica Grage-Schmidt (listed as absent) was approved in a recorded vote. The council also approved multiple municipal appointments including Ryan Cook as Chief of Police and Rachelle Norberg as City Attorney.
