Durham council hears intergovernmental, grant and community-service updates

Under miscellaneous business, Mayor Joshua Drake told the council he had met with Washington County Commissioner Jason Snyder about a proposed county vehicle registration fee increase and said he would forward additional information to the council; City Administrator Jordan Parente noted that a portion of the revenue would go to cities and Snyder’s office may appear before the council later in the year.
Parente also said the League of Oregon Cities would produce a summary of enacted bills from the recent short legislative session and that a beneficial change to the transient lodging tax (TLT) does not affect Durham because the city does not collect that tax. Administrative Assistant Wyatt Bean reported staff had received a draft intergovernmental agreement from Metro for the Local Share grant and would review it before contract execution. Parente reminded the council of an April 25 bulky-waste pickup day and an invasive weed-pulling volunteer event at the treed lot, noting prior weed-pulls drew a couple dozen participants; he also referenced a Pride Disposal 40th anniversary event on March 31 and a Family Peace Center event on April 30.
