Council favors local, in‑person city manager; narrows interview question process

During the July 6 work session, Donald City Council members discussed the preferred qualifications and interview approach for the next city manager. Councilors agreed the job description should encourage — but not require — that a candidate live within 30 minutes of Donald and that the role include in‑person work at City Hall. The council framed the residency language as a preference rather than a mandate.
Councilors reviewed interview questions provided by MWVCOG and described them as "excellent." Council members said the challenge would be narrowing the list for the first interview round and asked to receive the questions in an editable Word document so each councilor could mark their top choices. Admin Assistant Linda Hansen will compile the selections and forward them to MWVCOG staff ahead of the first interviews. No hiring decisions or interviewees were named at the session.
