Donald Council sets July 15 posting, Aug. 7 application deadline for city manager search

Council President Jan Olsen convened the Donald City Council work session on July 6, 2026 to plan the recruitment for a new city manager. Interim City Manager Alonso Limones introduced MWVCOG recruitment staff Eileen Stein and McRae Carmichael, who outlined a three‑part agenda covering process and schedule, the job profile, and interview questions.
MWVCOG staff told the council that the recruitment timeline was flexible. "The timing of the process can be expanded or contracted, as needed," said MWVCOG staff. They said the Job Announcement and supporting documents would be posted on July 15 after the council approves final materials at its July 14 meeting. Council members said they want to review all submitted applications, asked MWVCOG staff to flag top candidates, and discussed an application deadline of Aug. 7 and a council consideration meeting on Aug. 17. MWVCOG staff also noted that interviews could be held in executive session if the council so notices it.
The council did not adopt formal policy changes at the work session; instead members set deadlines and responsibilities for materials and question selection. Admin Assistant Linda Hansen will compile councilors’ top interview questions and forward them to MWVCOG staff for the first round of interviews. The session closed with a motion to adjourn by Councilor Michael Coffman, seconded by Councilor Abby Hungate; Council President Olsen adjourned the meeting at 7:47 p.m.
