Council reviews final city‑billing schedule as Missouri American Water prepares takeover

Staff proposed a final city bill that will cover approximately 39 days (reading closing Sept. 2) and be due Sept. 30, followed by Missouri American’s first bill (approximately 21 days) on Oct. 21. Staff said they are working with Missouri American on exact read dates and intend to post notices to the city website and on bills.
Officials also discussed collections and shutoffs. Staff said accounts past due as of an August cut‑off could remain subject to city shutoff procedures and that questions remain about coordinating shutoff and reconnection if accounts transfer to Missouri American. "We're still, working with Missouri American and the meter department on exactly how many days that's going to be," the presenter said, and council directed staff to clarify shutoff procedures in a meeting scheduled the next day.
