The City of Detroit adopted Ordinance 277, revising contracting and purchasing procedures, after a council motion and vote at the Feb. 10 meeting. Councilor Denny Nielsen moved for adoption; Councilor Todd Smith seconded. The ordinance was approved by the members present and will go into effect per the council vote.
Separately, Councilor Todd Smith and Sgt. Garrett Olson presented a proposed ATV ordinance. The council voted to forward the draft ordinance to the city’s legal department for review before additional council consideration. Sheriff’s office staff recommended larger, more legible ATV permit numbers and maintaining permit information in a shared document for enforcement; the council directed staff to proceed with legal review of the draft ordinance.
