Board approves end of Stanfield–Echo track/wrestling co-op, approves Echo–Stanfield collective arrangement

Staff said OSA’s numbers appeared to have counted a Stanfield co‑op Echo disputes, and that the district is pursuing a four-league alternative to reduce travel and preserve local nonleague games.
On track and wrestling, Committee member (S5) moved to dissolve the existing cooperative agreement between Stanfield High School and Echo High School and to approve a collective agreement that lets each school compete under its own classification while sharing practices and some coaching. S1 seconded the motion. A voice vote was taken and Chair (S3) announced the motion carries.
Staff framed the collective as a way to keep student opportunities while aligning postseason eligibility with each school’s classification. Board members discussed competitive balance, relay restrictions (students may not cross over on relay teams when competing under different classifications), and scheduling impacts before approving the change.
