Woodhaven‑Brownstown presents strategic‑plan progress on curriculum, learning environments and staff supports

Short outlined recent adoptions—K‑5 ELA and K‑8 math—describing how vertical alignment and formative assessment practices are being expanded. Missus Lauderback highlighted PBIS and Tier 1 SEL rollout across elementary buildings and the development of sensory and calming spaces: “Every building now has a sensory room, some with two,” she said, and noted that Woodhaven High School's sensory room is fully operational.
The presentation also listed noninstructional investments: smart labs, LED and HVAC upgrades tied to bond work, a district‑wide emergency response system (Syntegix), and a five‑year capital renewal plan. Board members asked how smart lab access is scheduled (answer: scheduled specials or electives, depending on grade) and recommended district recognition programs for high performing teachers.
