Summer bond construction on track across Woodhaven‑Brownstown schools, district says

Plant Moran representative Mister Kakoski briefed the board on progress for multiple projects funded through the district's 2021 bond program, saying, “Working at Bates doing the parking lot replacement, basketball court, the walking track along with the installation of the new underground detention stormwater system…That work right now is scheduled to be completed by August 24.”
Kakoski described classrooms and site work at Gudith and noted a four‑classroom addition and related site work that is “scheduled to be completed here at the end of the month,” with movers scheduled the first week of August to return furniture. He said bid package 9 at Brownstown Middle School is mobilized and also slated to finish this summer, while Wiginka's comprehensive renovation is expected to wrap up by the end of August and furniture deliveries will begin around Aug. 17.
Board members asked for clarifications on photos, the eco roof and dumpster locations. Superintendent (speaker 6) said the district will bring in a civil consultant to study parking configurations at Waginka and confirmed, “So there's no change to the size. No parking lots remaining the same,” noting the paving follows the previously approved bid package. The board agreed to schedule tours of recently completed spaces so members can see in‑person progress.
The update included sequencing details for Irving and Yake—temporary main office arrangements and phased interior moves to keep schools operational during construction. District staff said most finishing work (flooring, ceilings, and MEP) is in the final stages and that the remaining items will be completed before the school year begins.
