Mike Roach reported the Pomperaug Basketball Community (PBC) contract at the MRA snack shack is progressing and that staff are mostly ages 15–17 and are set up to accept Venmo, credit and cash. Roach said the PBC now better understands what sells and what inventory to buy and that, "the PBC might end up with a loss, but it is a good experience for the kids."
Commissioners stressed the importance of an adult being in charge at opening and closing. Jennifer Mahr asked who holds the snack-shack key; Roach said he would find out and the commission discussed placing a key in an on-site lock box. Jennifer Mahr also said the MRA supervisor should not be responsible for locking and unlocking the snack shack and that PBC should have direct control and a secure place to store belongings. Roach requested notice on whether the contract will be extended; staff said a decision will be made at the end of the second week (July 10).
