Oneida County to pilot public-health vending machine with free dental kits, socks and sunscreen

Linda Conlon told the committee the department will install a grant-funded public-health vending machine outside the back of the Health & ADRC Building to distribute free items to the community.
"The public health vending machine will be placed under the back overhang of the building to protect it from the elements," Conlon said, explaining the machine will dispense free dental kits for adults and children, first-aid kits, socks, sunscreen and mittens during winter months. She called the machine "a true public health resource" and thanked Buildings and Grounds and IT for their help.
Conlon noted that many other counties already operate similar machines and that the project was supported by a grant; staff did not report a fiscal impact or ongoing operating-cost estimate at the meeting.
