Middlebury parks director: MRA passes strong as tennis courts close for season

Betsy Anderson, Director of Parks and Recreation, told the commission that "so far 361 passes have been sold" and that staff are using a numbered-pass system to reconcile revenue and inventory.
Anderson said three to four books of passes will be reordered at $23.50 per 100 books and that the numbering and strict cash controls have helped track daily-pass income. Jennifer Mahr noted this season's daily-pass income is outpacing prior years, attributing part of the improvement to the new controls.
The meeting also included facility updates: Jennifer Mahr reported two cooling tents at the Middlebury Recreation Area (MRA) were destroyed and will be replaced, and that the tennis courts have been closed for the remainder of the season because the playing surface is lifting from the concrete and is unsafe. The commission said the courts will need a complete redo before reopening.
