Rainier Foothills Wellness Foundation reports growth in school mental-health program and senior meals

Tammy Verhus, interim executive director of the Rainier Foothills Wellness Foundation, told the Eden Plus City Council that the foundation’s school-based mental-health program has served 82 students, including 62 at Enumclaw High School, 9 at Enumclaw Middle School and 11 at Thunder Mountain. “We just really look forward to a continued partnership,” Verhus said, noting six EHS students had “graduated from therapy.”
Verhus presented outcome details she said show an improvement in measured behavioral incidents and a slight rise in average GPA. She also described the foundation’s senior hot-meals delivery operation: about 66 seniors currently enrolled, roughly 400 meals prepared from scratch each week and about 87 volunteers helping with preparation, shopping and delivery. “They received 6 meals weekly via 3 deliveries,” she said, describing the Monday/Wednesday/Friday schedule.
The foundation asked the council to continue supporting school counseling placements and senior meal operations and invited councilors to contact staff for further information. No formal request for new city funding was made during the presentation; the foundation framed its remarks as a program update and a thank-you to the council for prior support.
