Council approved several personnel and grant items on Sept. 8. Marshall Christmann moved and the council approved the appointment of Jason Werner to the Lyons/Rice County Fire Department. The council also approved a $4,950 donation/grant from ONEOK to purchase 15 pairs of leather boots for firefighters.
Council granted an extension for repairs at 121 and 123 West Ave. South through Dec. 31, 2020 and authorized the City Counselor to pursue collection of demolition costs for a structure at 415 East Lauderbach through the Rice County District Court. Separately, a motion to defer payroll tax obligations in light of the COVID-19 disaster was moved by Rocky Gaines and seconded by Leanna Payne but failed, recorded as receiving six 'no' votes.
