Selectmen approve two firefighter hires and accept two federal light towers

The Fire Chief asked the board to hire firefighter EMT Jessica Saint Louis and firefighter EMT Justin Hubbard at an hourly rate of $24 pending completion of required credentials; the board approved both hires by unanimous voice vote. "Jessica is highly recommended," the chief said, describing hiring recommendations from department leadership. Colleagues welcomed the new hires and the board said "Welcome aboard."
The chief also asked the board to accept two Magnum Mobile light towers from a federal surplus/Forestry program; the board voted to sign an agreement with the director of the Division of Forestry to secure the towers. Later in the meeting, the board authorized a transfer of $62,623.79 from the general fund to the fire/rescue ambulance account to comply with the terms of an Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG). The treasurer was authorized to complete the transfer.
