Friends of Mantorville requested a four-foot high, solid black Fence Screen for the city’s new pickleball court with a quote of $10,338.10; the council approved the purchase in the public-comment portion of the meeting.
Brian Schwanke, speaking for Friends of Mantorville, presented the purchase request and Councilmember Jim Potter noted that with the new silent pickleball balls the sound is "hardly audible". Deputy City Clerk Siewert told the council she is working on a sign policy to ensure signs on the fence are visually cohesive. Council approved the purchase (motion carried: 5 ayes / 0 nays).
The approval covers materials for all four sides of the court. Friends of Mantorville and city staff will proceed with ordering and installation coordination with Public Works.
