The council approved a special-event permit for the Rangeley Area Chamber of Commerce’s 'Roar' event on May 7–8 at the Rangely Automotive Museum and on Main Street. Emma, representing the chamber, outlined a multi-day schedule including a Thursday show‑and‑shine, OHV guided rides, a Rock Park timed obstacle event permitted with the BLM, a poker run and a rodeo/concert. Organizers said they will line vehicles on Staniland, use fencing to control alcohol-service areas, and wristband attendees who are drinking.
Council members asked about staffing, fencing, and learned Powell Liquor Company used a similar system in prior events and monitored gates successfully. The chamber representative said the event is on schedule, registration is ahead of prior years and planning included coordination with the BLM and search-and-rescue for off‑site activities. The permit was approved by motion and second.
