Rangely town manager warns of possible June water restrictions

"We're looking probably water restrictions coming in June," the town manager said, adding that a more detailed presentation will be given by Michael at the next meeting with a timeline and explanation of the conditions that would trigger restrictions. The manager also said the water conservancy district indicated emergency water releases could be requested under stage 3 or stage 4 restrictions but would require coordination and a demonstrated need.
Council members pressed for details about whether the conservancy district had already placed a call on the river and were told the town manager believed there had not yet been a formal call; the manager said staff would verify the status. The manager also updated the council on permit modernization (targeting a month-end launch), grant-management improvements, and a housing strategy shift toward cross-modular homes to close a funding gap on one project.
Councilors asked for follow-up briefings and scheduled a more in-depth report at the next session when staff from water operations will attend to explain the anticipated timeline and available emergency measures.
