Fire Chief Rindell (speaker 9) told the council the department had responded to roughly 118 vehicle accidents last year and recommended the purchase. "So there's a need for tools," Chief Rindell said, describing the demonstration and warranty status of the demo equipment.
Council member (speaker 6) moved to waive the ordinance and approve the purchase; the motion passed after a roll-call vote in which all named members answered yes. The purchase was justified by the chief and staff as cost-effective and compatible with existing equipment.
