The Richmond City Council approved a series of resolutions to permit the 62nd annual Good Old Days festival, authorizing parade street closures and applications to MDOT, the outhouse races on Sept. 11, a fireworks display on Sept. 12, and the usual banner hangings and parking-lot closures.
City Manager (speaker 4) said the festival committee requested the same schedule and approvals as prior years and noted a minor change to the cruise route to manage increased participation. "This year, the Good O'Days is scheduled for Thursday, September 10 through Sunday, September 13," he told council. Council member (speaker 3) moved to adopt resolution number 2026-14 directing the clerk to submit the MDOT application for the parade; subsequent motions (resolutions 2026-15, 2026-16, 2026-17) covered the outhouse races, fireworks and street/banners/parking items and each motion passed by voice vote.
Councilors discussed logistics such as parking on Parker for parade staging and the timing for reopening streets after the parade. The city said the bulk of festival requests were the same as previous years and staff recommended approval to support long-standing community programming.
