The proposal, introduced by the Chair, asked for professional photographs of historic International Style homes in Monona to be assembled into a poster similar to Dane Arts’ annual thematic posters. “I think what we want is approval, a, to apply for a grant to Dane Arts,” the Chair said when describing the project and the commission’s intent to supply a $1,500 match from its fund balance. A commission member formally moved approval and another seconded; the Chair called the vote and recorded three ayes.
The commission emphasized that Dane Arts requires a one-to-one match: if the award is smaller than requested the required match would be reduced accordingly. The Chair said the commission will evaluate whether to accept a reduced award and will bring the offer back to the commission for final approval if a grant is awarded. No opposition was recorded during the meeting.
Next steps: the commission’s lead on the project will prepare the grant application by the August 1 deadline, estimate photographer costs, and report back to the commission should Dane Arts make an award.
