Interim Town Manager Russ Over showed council a newly launched public-facing dashboard that lists 39 recommendations compiled from three recent reviews: five recommendations from Cherry Beckert, 13 from the state auditor, and 21 from Womble Bond Dickinson. The dashboard is organized into four buckets—council expenses and reimbursements, p-cards, fund balance/financial reporting and workplace—and displays each recommendation's status (not started, in research/development, complete).
"You will see we have 39 total recommendations," Russ Over said as he navigated the online tracker, noting the dashboard will be updated periodically as items move to complete and staff will provide a Womble Bond Dickinson report to council on Thursday. Council members asked staff to prioritize recommendations that relate to council functions—travel, meals, council expenses—and to present an implementation calendar for tackling the items.
The dashboard is intended to increase transparency for residents and to provide visual progress on implementing recommendations from the audits and consultant reports.
