Council approves district community-benefit grants for youth sports, medians and field maintenance

Ms. Carroll presented several community benefit fund requests and council approved the items by voice vote. Approved allocations included $1,500 from District 11 for Aynor high varsity football equipment; an added $500 from Councilman Anderson bringing a travel-support allocation to $2,000 for a 12-and-under girls softball national travel effort; $1,500 for a student angler league tournament trail (Districts 8 and 11); $1,500 for the Conway Hotshots; $3,000 from District 3 for maintenance of eight medians on Carolina Forest Boulevard and an additional $3,000 for Beautify Carolina Forest to maintain 11 medians; and $5,000 from District 3 to support Carolina Forest Community Church field maintenance, fencing and clay repair.
Council approved the full package without further modification. The items were presented as district-level appropriations and will be processed per county procedures for community benefit disbursement.
