Board adopts financing ordinance for redevelopment of former county jail site
Summary

The Passaic County Board of County Commissioners adopted Ordinance 2026-05 on July 14, approving a lease agreement with the Passaic County Improvement Authority and authorizing general obligation lease revenue notes and bonds for the Marshall Street Phase 2 redevelopment project.
The county administrator described the ordinance as "the final step for the financing, of the redevelopment of the former Passaic County Jail site with a new 6 story building and 500 space parking garage." The project is planned to house the Board of Social Services, election offices, the probation department and a hub for the sheriff's office. Following the public hearing the board moved to adopt the ordinance and recorded affirmative roll‑call votes from the commissioners present.
