Health office reports immunization compliance below state threshold; screenings and dental services noted

Leah, the district health-office staff member, summarized the annual health report and said the district’s immunization compliance is currently below the state’s 99% requirement as the district phases in a new meningococcal requirement for 7th- and 12th-graders. “Again, we are under the 99 percent requirement of the state,” Leah said, adding that compliance metrics include either vaccination documentation or an approved waiver.

Leah told the board the district screened roughly 340 students for vision and 35 for hearing this year and identified at least 10 students who required vision interventions; one student received hearing aids after referral. She also described expanding dental-program participation through North Lakes Community Clinic, reporting “it was almost $70,000 worth of dental work done for our students.” The health office will continue outreach and note that exclusion policies for noncompliant kindergarten–5th graders remain an option but were not used this year. The board received the report and placed it on file.
