Staff presented a revision to Policy 3420 to update the district's procedures for allergic reactions and access to epinephrine. The policy had last been updated in August 2016 and the proposed language reflects recommendations from the ESD nurse and the district nurse.
Board member Danielle recommended clarifying paragraph 5 to read that the district shall maintain a supply of epinephrine, including auto-injectors or epinephrine nasal spray, to avoid ambiguity about administration methods. Staff agreed to work with Danielle to redraft the policy and return the revised language to the board at the meeting on the 23rd for further consideration.
No formal vote was taken on the revised policy language at this meeting; the item will return after staff and nurse review.
