Board members debated whether to extend the superintendent's contract while new board members continue their evaluation and the district faces financial uncertainty. Several members said it would be prudent to set clear performance goals and revisit any extension during the 2026–27 school year.
"I really want the opportunity to continue to monitor...our fiscal responsibility opportunity to see some really much needed improvement in our funding," Danielle (board member on Zoom) said, explaining why she was hesitant to extend the contract immediately. The superintendent told members he would provide a letter of agreement to formally table the extension and that his current contract covers upcoming school years.
A motion to sign the memorandum of agreement to table the extension was moved and seconded; the chair called the question and the voice vote carried with board members responding 'aye.' The board agreed the item would be brought back to a future agenda after agreed performance goals and additional evaluation work.
