City staff told the council they will televise a pavement hole at the Main and Market intersection to determine whether the problem stems from the storm sewer, sanitary sewer, or another underground issue, and reported recent water distribution repairs.
The city manager said crews will televise the sanitary sewer and storm sewer at the Main/Market site "before we open that up and determine what the issue is there," noting it could be a storm or sanitary sewer issue or an uncommon legacy feature in older downtown infrastructure. The city will inspect before excavating.
Separately, committee minutes and staff reports said the water distribution department completed mainline valve repairs and set eight new meters as part of ongoing maintenance. The county engineer remains the contractor on the Dayton Avenue repaving/culvert work; staff thanked residents for patience with disruptions.
Officials said repair costs will depend on what televising finds; staff recommended a cautious budgeting approach while some revenues are slightly lower than estimated.
