Special services outlines parent survey, dual language expansion to first grade

She said ESD 123 will run a parent survey for families of students on IEPs every even year (2026, 2028, 2030), delivered by ParentSquare, email, the district website and paper notices. The portal will remain open through May and the district expects a report on survey results after closure.
On dual language, staff described a fifty‑fifty instructional model in kindergarten where students receive Spanish and English instruction from two teachers and will transition to dual language first grade next year. The presenter noted collaboration with Grandview School District for summer training for dual language teachers to avoid hotel costs and support staff development.
The special services update also reviewed transition meetings for students moving between buildings and noted that 10 general education teachers have earned English language endorsements to support multilingual instruction.
