Town outlines short, aggressive construction window and local detours for Front/Pine/Linden work

Town staff and the contractor presented the construction sequencing and detour plan for the Front/Pine/Linden intersection project, saying an intensive closure will allow the work to be completed quickly. Greg Bachus summarized the timing and the detour routes and noted the aim was to finish before the school year begins. "Actually closing roads beginning August 6, doing some of the drainage work... and then opening up again, by August 29," Bachus said.
Steve Cronin said the detour plan includes temporarily making Hill Street two‑way and restricting on‑street parking; he acknowledged that will inconvenience residents but said it will let the crew complete the job faster. "We're gonna be temporarily turning Hill Street into a 2 way road. And we'll also be restricting on street parking," Cronin said, and added the town will deploy flaggers and work with police for enforcement during the transition.
Presenters told residents they anticipate some tweaking of signing and channelizing once drivers start using detours and that they will monitor nearby streets for unintended traffic shifts. The town will publish plans and construction updates on the public works project page and use door hangers and an on‑site resident project representative to communicate local impacts.
