Planning Commission forwards Prince George 2045 plan to Board with three changes

The Prince George Planning Commission voted to forward the Prince George County 2045 comprehensive plan (last revised Nov. 5) to the Board of Supervisors with a recommendation for approval subject to changes approved at the Nov. 20 meeting.

Commissioner Anderson moved "to forward the Prince George 2045 comp plan last revised November 5 to the board with a recommendation for approval subject to the following change to use alternative text as shown in handout a," a motion that was seconded and approved by roll call. After additional motions, the commission also adopted a reduced planning-area boundary around Disputana ("Alternative A") and voted to remove the separate "rural preservation" category from the future land-use framework. Staff confirmed the package of changes will be forwarded to the Board with the three modifications and noted the Board public hearing is scheduled for Dec. 9 at 6:00 p.m.

"It will be forwarded to the board with a recommendation of for approval subject to the 3 changes discussed," staff said during the meeting, summarizing the commission's direction. The record shows the commission called the roll on the consolidated motion and approved forwarding the plan.

Next steps: the Board of Supervisors will hold a public hearing on Dec. 9 at 6:00 p.m. and may accept, modify, or reject the commission's recommendation. The planning commission's recommendation is advisory; any zoning or regulatory changes to implement the plan would follow separate ordinance or map-amendment processes.
