Transportation staff described steps to make buses an extension of the classroom for discipline purposes, to ensure write-ups from drivers are tracked consistently and to improve communication between transportation staff and school administrators. Showers described plans for a July 30 bus open house with safety stations and translated materials to reach families for whom English is a second language.
Trustees approved the handbook update by roll call. Administration said the transportation department will further develop its own driver-facing handbook and plans to coordinate with principals to ensure consistent consequences and communication.
