Commissioners agreed to reach out immediately to DOLA and to consult SDA attorneys for legal clarity about whether a formal resolution must be adopted within the 30-day window. The clerk (Shay) will collect letters of interest from potential candidates and distribute them to the commissioners for review; if DOLA requires faster action, the board would consider a special meeting on the 24th or make appointments at the meeting tentatively scheduled for the 17th. The board emphasized continuity of services while legal and compliance steps move forward, and they asked counsel whether current check-signing authority remains valid while appointments are resolved.
