The North Salt Lake Planning Commission approved a site plan for a proposed McDonald’s restaurant at 1096 North Redwood Road, contingent on the applicant securing any necessary Federal Aviation Administration approvals before issuance of a building permit. Applicant representative Miss Graham summarized the proposal as a 4,500-square-foot building with a drive-through, 61 required parking stalls (including three ADA spaces), a 24-foot landscape buffer with a 5-foot sidewalk on the Redwood Road frontage, and 20% of the lot landscaped (the proposal lists 4.2% sod to meet the local maximum).
"I hope you're hungry because the much anticipated McDonald's is here for approval," Miss Graham told the commission. Commissioners asked about access points; the applicant confirmed an existing shared approach on Redwood Road and a proposed new drive approach on 1100 North. The Development Review Committee recommended approval, and Commissioner Holbrook moved to approve the site plan with the FAA-approval condition; the motion was seconded and passed on the record.
