Angela Amaral told the board that members of the public had raised concerns about multiple industry representatives serving on the cannabis task force and urged the board to retain stronger oversight measures. She asked the board to keep a 10-year permit term (with five-year extensions for compliant operations), to continue employee background checks, and to raise the minimum surety bond to $15,000. "How are we as members of the public expected to have confidence in the county's cannabis program when we are consistently brushed off or not taken seriously?" Amaral asked.
County staff and supervisors acknowledged the comments and agreed to incorporate surety-bond language and a permanent-employee definition into the ordinance; the 10-year question was left for a later full-board discussion. Staff also noted that two scheduled revocations had been pulled from the agenda for today's meeting.
