The Lake County Board of Supervisors approved resolutions submitted by county fire agencies to implement automatic annual inflation adjustments to development-related fire mitigation fees. Supervisor Sabatier summarized that the adjustment uses the Engineering News-Record 20-city building-cost index rather than CPI and quoted an increase of 4.3376% for the past year plus an administrative surcharge of 2%.
Sabatier walked through an example for Kelseyville showing the recomputed fee; staff confirmed the calculation was based on the index and that the administrative surcharge was applied on top of the indexed amount. The board offered the resolution and recorded unanimous approval (4-0).
Chair noted the index and method are public and can be verified by members of the public. The adopted adjustment will take effect per the ordinance and the implementing fire-district resolutions.
