Lake County library to take core catalog offline July 27–Aug. 4 for system migration

Christopher Veach, county librarian, told the board the Lake County library will migrate its core catalog and database this summer and outlined specific service impacts and a phased restoration timeline. "The migration will occur July 27 through August 4. During that week, we will be offline," Veach said, adding that patrons can still check out books and use digital apps like Libby and Hoopla.
Veach listed the services that will be affected during the offline week: the library will not be able to issue new library cards, process returns, and the online catalog will be view-only. He said most normal services will resume on Aug. 5 with a temporary catalog, and the catalog and mobile app are expected to be fully restored on Aug. 23. "On August 5, most of our normal services will resume with a temporary catalog, and we expect everything to be 100 restored with our catalog and mobile app back online on August 23," he said.
Veach said library staff have been training on the new system and will be available to assist patrons during the transition. He encouraged patrons who need help or information to visit the library website or a local branch. The board recorded no further questions or public comment on the announcement.
